AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY ***

Richard Garren was born on July 3, 1941 in Enid, Oklahoma.  He, and his wife Robin, live in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Richard and Robin have four children (Randall, Kendall, Shannon, and Brandy), nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild.  They attend Shawnee Christian Church.  Richard holds a BS, 67 and M.Ed., 69 from Phillips University in Enid and a doctorate degree in education (Ed.D.), 78 from the University of Texas.

Richards family of six was relatively poor as he was growing up during the forties and fifties in Oklahoma and Missouri.  As he looks back today, he is able to see God's hand guiding and caring for his family during those early difficult years.  "Our Life In HIS Hands" is the story of those years and how a loving God guided their lives and cared for each one, even though none of them were "Christians" at the time.  Since those early days, each one has accepted Jesus as the Son of the living God and their personal Lord and Savior.

Thirty-Seven Cents and a Prayer is Richard's second book.  Although it is classified as fiction, it is based on the lives of the authors great grandmother, grandmother and mother.  Many of the names were changed.  Most of the dialogue was made up by the author.  But, the vast majority of the incidents depicted in this book are true and are related by the author as they were told to him by his grandmother and mother; as well as his siblings.

It is the authors hope that both of these books will inspire the reader to seek God.  He's there and He wants to hear from you and He wants to help you. He wants you to spend eternity with Him in heaven.
