Over many years I have had the honor of sharing my life stories and how they relate to God's presence in that life through sermons, communion meditations, and other speaking engagements at religious gatherings. Numerous people attending those functions have suggested that I put these stories in a book.
The format is to tell many of the stories of my family and show how in each one God is not only there; but He is guiding those lives, caring for each of us, and providing for all our needs. Some of the stories are humorous. Others are emotional and have brought a tear to the eyes of those who have had similar experiences. They are all true. Scripture is used to show God's presence and love and grace and work in each situation.
It is my hope that this book will reach those who may question the existence of God; or question how a loving God could allow them to go through trials and tribulations; or perhaps for those who feel they have been too bad for a loving God to save.
My family was living in abject poverty while I was growing up during the forties and fifties in the Midwest. As America was changing rapidly to the new world's order from the Great Depression to World War II, many felt left behind. Such was the case for this family of six living in a small, one bedroom apartment, over a photography studio, in downtown Enid, Oklahoma. Most of the time there was barely enough money for the necessities of life. Just as it seemed that things couldn't get any worse, they did. Dad lost his job.
Each time our family tried to climb out of the pit of despair and poverty, something would come along to knock us back down to the bottom of that pit. Then a life changing experience would come along to show us we were never alone.
This is the true story of those years.
